Do you think we’re shaped more by our experiences or by who we are?
Well, this answer can be given in two ways, but the keyword in my response is “some.”
Some people are shaped more by their experiences or by who they are.
I believe I am shaped by both my experiences and the choices I make, but the experiences of my youth have had the greatest influence on who I am today. They challenged me, strengthened me, and taught me to become more welcoming, compassionate, and willing to grow. I have embraced a new life and continue to shape the person I desire to be.
Every day, I ask myself how I can become a better person and move beyond the thinking of my younger years. I often wonder how I can be the one who helps bring positive change for future generations of my family. My constant prayer is, “Lord, help me, because I cannot do this on my own.”
The experiences I have lived through are worth sharing, and the wisdom they have given me is something I treasure with gratitude. I long for even greater insight into God’s will for my life and the path He has prepared for me.
Today, my experiences bring me joy rather than pain because they remind me that, through God’s strength, I am capable of overcoming any obstacle. As long as I keep my faith, maintain a positive mindset, and continue trusting Him, I know I can always face whatever lies ahead of me.
I am a better person today because of my experiences, and I am who I am because I have chosen to grow. If tomorrow calls me to change again, I will embrace that growth as well. In the end, I believe both our experiences and our choices shape who we become. Thanks for reading this! -CM
