Screen Time

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

This appears to be a very pertinent question. My approach to managing screen time originated in 2020, during the election year. I previously utilized all the common social media platforms. However, during that particular year, I chose to delete Facebook due to the prevalence of divisive content among my friends, family, and even colleagues. I preferred not to engage with such negativity. I subsequently recognized that I could allocate my time more productively for myself and those in my immediate environment. I also decided to remove Instagram, as I found myself inadvertently comparing my own life with the portrayals I observed online. Despite having a wonderful partner, I was still receiving unsolicited contact, which ultimately led me to discontinue all my social media accounts. If you wish to contact me, you may do so via my phone number or email. My life has significantly improved since then, as has my screen time. I was experiencing some discomfort in my hands from excessive scrolling. I truly appreciate the opportunity to engage with you all here and conclude my day with a bit of writing. It’s a genuine blessing to dedicate more attention to my family and step away from my phone. As a flight attendant, I find it beneficial that I don’t have Wi-Fi access, and I generally choose not to pay for it unless there’s a critical need. I don’t spend a lot of time on screens; I’m often quite occupied exploring various aspects of nature and the world, much like a modern-day explorer, and enjoying all the wonderful foods that might have been missed in earlier times. While I may be a bit playful with that last remark, I sincerely believe that reducing screen time, particularly on social media, can significantly enhance one’s personal time and overall quality of life. This allows for a greater appreciation of what one possesses, without the need for comparison, and a recognition of the blessings that are always made possible for you and your loved ones. It’s important to always remember your identity beyond the realm of social media. Blessing  always! -CM
